It's official, I'm famous (thanks Nike!)

A few weeks back Krista and I ran a 10k with my buddy Joe, his wife Catherine (affectionately known as crazy chicken; checkout her awesome new blog HERE), their puppy Jersey, and my other friend Tim. The race was part of the Nike Human Race happening all across the world. Ours was a small affair--30 or so people, all part of the Nike account team at Avenue A Razorfish or Microsoft--being in an unofficial city in Seattle.

Today Joe emailed me the picture below, which recaps the race. And guess who is on the cover?

Here's a transcript of our email exchange:

Joe: We just put together a recap book of the Human Race. Guess who’s on the cover looking scary.

Brett: dude, that is creepy. why my photo? random....

Joe: No idea. I couldn’t stop laughing though

Brett: i think it's because i'm really good looking even though i just ran a race. and my jay-z bracelet is pretty baller. lol. i want a copy!

Joe: I actually read it more as a good will booklet. Sort of how Nike takes kids from the Midwest and shows them better ways to maintain their health. “See this out of shape, confused, sorry looking 17 year old? We are getting him outside to breath the fresh air!”

LOL. Funny stuff. I am convinced Joe is still jealous of my wholesome, Midwestern upbringing. And do I really only look 17? I swear I look at least 20 there.

Laurie, I'm deeply wounded by your comments.

JB: i'll see what I can do, though supposedly it's a pretty limited edition...let me know about christmas, look forward to connecting soon!

not sure what's more frightening... that Seattle wasn't an official city (is that some weird Portland / Seattle shizzle?) or that gainfully employed people (ie not me) have nothing better to do than email around custom book covers. Although it is a cool idea... wonder how many people ordered one? Nike really is stealing tricks from Apple right left and center!
